Ape NFT Buyers Just Got Scammed

While some people decry NFTs are as a whole one giant scam, we recently had a serious outright scam as over 4,000 NFTs in the “Evolved Apes” offering sold a week ago, according to Vice came from several hideous JPGs, which are already a rip-off of the more successful “Bored Ape” series. The scammer NFT creator “Evil Ape” promised that not only would the buyers receive a “unique NFT trapped inside a lawless land” but also a cash giveaway, and an accompanying fighting video game to go along with the NFT.

On Friday; however, Evil Ape bailed! The scammer shut down the Evolved Apes website and took the Twitter account offline as well. They disappeared  with $2.7 million raised by selling the NFTs. This is what happens when markets get overheated and people don’t understand what it is that they are buying and for what purpose. They just follow the lemmings off the cliff.
