First Responders Get A Cannabis Pass For The Past In Austin

Anyone who is looking to apply in Austin, Texas to be a first responder is no longer required to disclose cannabis use from their past.

The local EMS union pointed to legislation that passed earlier this year  expanding the state’s medicinal cannabis programs to also include PTSD on the list with other qualifying conditions.

In a press release Austin EMS Association President Selena Xie said that “Due to COVID-19 and the nature of EMS work, many of our first responders have PTSD,” Let’s pretend that’s the reason and not the Labor shortage caused by the great resignation.
