Supply Chain Hits Small Businesses

The most recent U.S. Census Small Business Pulse Survey (Oct. 11 – Oct. 17), shows that 45% of businesses are having domestic supplier delays. The number is up from 26.7% from the beginning of the year. Small businesses rely on supplies and operate on tight margins that are not only affected by harder to find products, but also making future planning incredibly difficult, because owners can’t always order in bulk or in advance like larger competitive companies have the ability to do.

The Biden administration is trying to deal with the supply chain catastrophe by expanding work hours to 24/. Meanwhile, political rival Ron DeSantis (Gov. of Florida) spoke at JaxPort last Tuesday stating that  “When you start talking about supply chain,[and] inflation, that’s not something that’s going to impact a small segment. That hits very wide and very hard. Florida is here, we’ve got capacity and we also have incentive packages to make it worth your while to be able to bring your business through our ports,”.
